So I was up all night last night and I finally got to sleep a little this afternoon, and I had my first trippy dream in a long time.

It felt something like a cheesy 80s music video in the process of being filmed. Actually, 2 videos, but I forget the first one. The second one, I remember the song. It was a steady native american drum beat (BUM-bum-bum-bum Bum-bum-bum-bum, etc.) with no other music. The words repeated over and over were, "I will walk across, for you, Des-ko-jam-ba" (which was spelled Dekjba).
So, what Dekjba means, because that was all that was happening in the dream:
it is an endless desert inside of a glass jar (like an hourglass). But it's just big enough for a person to fit inside, so it just looked like I was walking in place inside a big hourglass. And whoever I was trying to get to was on the other side of the glass, facing the other way and unaware of me, though also walking in place despite there not being glass or a wall in front of them.

and I thought that was a really interesting image, and I wanted to share it.

boo my video final got a shitty grade.
boo two B+s for final grades. (first time for any Bs)
yay for 2 A final grades (first time for 2 of em) (plus an A in a 1 credit course, but that was no accomplishment)

A-s are a comfortable nook.
lame that 2 B+s and 2 1/4 As = less than an A-

shut up. i'm a grade whore.
and i'm mostly upset that my video final was so drastically lower than previous projects. I wanted to try something cool, didn't pan out. It sucks that every-fucking-one else had to make such awesome work that overshadowed me. made the prof raise his bar.
ego shrinks.

And leave it to Mary to put the wind back in my sails after such a broke-ass day. Love ya babe.

And Ms. Gabby deserves props for getting my mopey ass out of my chair earlier to give filming another shot. Most of my usable material probably came from then. Props and thanks to you. Love ya too.

So what did we learn today, class?

-student film equipment will crap out at the drop of a hat
-skipping classes and filming for most of the day can amount to about 1 or 2 minutes of useful material
-this whole semester has not amounted to a single satisfactory project
-i spent $300 on video editing software so I can edit from home, and I have no way of getting what I've filmed onto my computer
-I suck at playing 4-Square (though I still love it. One of two bright spots in the day)
-apparently the up and down keys on my laptop just stopped working.
-I have the lightest workload of all time, and yet I still feel like I can't get anything done.

oh, and about a week ago, I got a B- on a paper, which sucked. I know, it's dick of me to say when there are people out there who would struggle to get that, but that's not me. Writing is something that I pride myself on, as one of my few dependable talents. So it felt kinda shitty. And also it means that for the first time in college I might get below an A-. I know. Dick. But hey, nobody likes slipping beneath their standards.

And oh yeah, I am terrible at thinking up stories. And next semester I need to write a feature-length script. And i'm overloading my schedule.

And there's a distinct possibility that if I take a summer course at any college in my area it won't carry over.

guuuuuuuh.

Step 1: Put your music player of choice on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 25 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: NO CHEATING, TOUCHHOLES.

1. Fame makes a man take things over "Fame" David Bowie- Bill Wahlberg
2. From the back door of your life, you swept me out dear.
3. Too many puppies are being shot in the dark "Too Many Puppies" Primus- Bill Whammybar
4. Precious and fragile things need special handling "Precious" Depeche Mode- Gabby
5. Say you stand by your man. Tell me something I don't understand
6. In my little town I grew up believing God keeps his eye on us all. "My Little Town" Simon and Garfunkel- Ryan Stratton
7. Who's in a bunker, who's in a bunker? Women and children first. "Idioteque" Radiohead- Bill Wishka
8. Girls. All I really want is girls. And in the morning it's girls. Cause in the evening it's girls. "Girls" Beastie Boys- Bill Wal*Mart
9. Hot pants. Smokin. Hot pants. Smokin.
10. When you were here before, I couldn't look you in the eye. "Creep" Radiohead- Bill Scrimshaw

12. A cooler version of yourself. Cooler version of your doubt.
13. There's one way out, babe. Lord, I just can't go out the door.
14. Measuring a summer's day. I only find it slips away to grey.

20. Bear paws and rascal power, watching us in your garage. Big girl you ate the neighbor. The nova is over.

22. It's you that I adore. You'll always be my whore. "Adore" Smashing Pumpkins- Mareesa
23. The government totally sucks, you motherfucker. The government totally sucks. Ben Franklin was a rebel indeed. he liked to get naked while he smoked on the weed. He was a genius but if he was here today, the government would fuck him up his righteous A! (ok, that's more than one line, but it's too good not to continue)

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend your cool...
7. When you're finished tag some other people to do it!

Opening Credits: Maria- Rage Against The Machine

Waking up: Jesus and Tori- The Number 12 Looks Like You

Falling in Love: Keep on Chooglin'- CCR

Fight Song: Privilege- Incubus

Breaking up: Wounded Knee- Primus

Prom: Never Mind Me- Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Life: Bron-Y-Aur Stomp- Led Zeppelin

Mental Breakdown: Elevenate- Indigae

Driving: Pudding Time- Primus

Flash Back: Eye- Smashing Pumpkins

Getting Back Together: Letter to Hermione- David Bowie

Wedding: Intro (to Stankonia)- Outkast

Birth of a Child: One Tree Hill- U2

Final Battle: Waiting For Superman- The Flaming Lips

End Credits: Suddenly Everything Has Changed- The Flaming Lips

Yeah, none of these make even remote sense.

12:14 pm - so who still reads this?
Leave your name and I'll respond with...

1. With something random about you.
2. What song/movie reminds me of you.
3. A flavor of jello to wrestle with you in. The capital city of the state in which I'd most like to see a statue of you, and the letter N.
4. Something that only makes sense to you and me.
5. My first/clearest memory of you.
6. What animal you remind me of.
7. Something that I've always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal.

ok, anyone who ever recommended that I see Eraserhead: I officially hate you. That was creepy and wrong and uncomfortable.
I was watching it to avoid doing homework and now i'm doing homework to avoid watching any more of it.

ok, the flaming lips story will be completed later, but an interesting thing came up in my psych book.

A person with an anal-erotic personality can be characterized by a triad of traits: orderliness, thriftiness, and obstinacy (the trait of being difficult to handle or overcome, and the resolute adherence to your own ideas or desires)

...Phil Mardoc, anyone?

Sp that was pretty much the best night of my life. Dee came up on Sunday to go to the Flaming Lips with me. I found out that afternoon that both of us would be on stage, and for the whole show. siiiick!
we ate an amazing meal at an Indian restaurant named Kashmir on Newbury Street.
because of slow trains, we were running a bit late, so when we arrived at our station we ran to the nearest building that looked like a venue. not the right one. so a bit more running around and we eventually found the right place. Got our passes, hung around during the opening act, and then were brought back stage.
We got to be Santas, though the martian outfits were cooler (albeit female-specific). by the way, there had been exstatic glee from dee and myself through this whole process. while we were waiting to go on, Wayne Coyne come back stage and chills with us! such a chill, down to earth guy. Gives hugs, poses for photos, and all that.
We go on...and the audience is just huge and screaming. the band makes its entrance, rip in to the first song "race for the prize", confetti and huge ballons burst out from the stage/ceiling. meanwhile the santas and martains are shooting big handheld spotlights at the crowd and band. and dancing like maniacs.
more on this and perhaps some pics (if i can figure out how) later. gotta get to class.
